PROGRAMS

Welcome to Troop 280, a Scout Troop in St. John's County, FL. We offer a variety of programs for our scouts to develop their skills and have fun. Click here to learn more about our programs.

Monthly Camping

Troop 280 strives to take 7-8 overnight monthly camping trips each year between September and April.

Camping trips can consist of things such as fishing, winter camping, wilderness survival, shooting sports (rifle and shotgun), etc.  When possible, we select camping locations that are within a 2–3-hour drive and provide a unique experience for the scouts.  We usually depart Friday evenings around 5:30 p.m. & return Sunday morning by 11:00 a.m.

Summer Camp

Each year Troop 280 takes an extended weeklong summer camping trip, affording scouts the opportunity to interact with other scouts from around the country.  There are several types of programs for scouts at summer camp depending on their rank, age, & goals.

Advancement & Awards

We offer a comprehensive advancement program that allows scouts to develop skills and earn merit badges. Click here to learn more about our advancement program.

Fundraising

As the Scout Law says, a Scout is “thrifty” and earns his/her own way with fundraisers, helping to pay for camping trips, summer camp, activities, etc. Fundraising opportunities include online popcorn sales, camp card sales, and various other fundraisers as decided by the Troop.  When Scouts earn money through any of the fundraisers, these dollars are added and tracked within individual scout accounts and can be used to pay for monthly or summer camps, dues, uniforms, etc.
